The Oregon Travel Information Council's mission is to create a great visitor experience by providing direction to destinations, connecting travelers with Oregon's resources, and ensuring safe and convenient travel.
We are a semi-independent state agency who accomplishes our mission by providing programs and services such as roadside signs, brochure display programs, rest area light-box advertising, WiFi hot spots, Travel Plazas, and business listings on TripCheck.com and on our Interactive Heritage Map. TIC also administers the Oregon Heritage Tree and Oregon Historical Marker programs.
Since 1972, when TIC was formed by the State Legislature, Oregon was one of the early states to adopt the Federal Highway Beautification Act and to institue the replacement of billboards with business logo signs to direct motorists to essential services. The Travel Information Council has grown to be one of the premier programs in the nation. We continue to be innovative leaders by providing new programs to serve Oregon motorists. We are also the founding member of MISA, an international association of organizations who provide motorist information and services.
The Travel Information Council produces programs that succeed through applying the principle of cooperation with other state agencies, private industry, and the general public. The TIC meets the needs of Oregon motorists and exceeds the expectations of program participants. Please visit our Partner Page for a list of our partner agencies and organizations.
